I had a really full on day on Tuesday at Uni, my old schedule spread over 2 days has now been packed into 6 hours nonstop on a Tuesday, all really heavy subjects, it felt pretty relentless. The first session was Introduction to the Unconcious Mind, and we met a resident philosopher.. what a great title.. imagine that on the CV.

It was his job to explain to us about the history, pre-Freud of the unconcious mind, more to do with previous thinking about the mind and soul. He covered Plato, referring to the Republic, which luckily I covered albeit briefly at ALevel in classics. It was tough going but pretty interesting.

One of the things he covered, was about Plato’s belief that our souls, before they are embodied in us, exist in some sort of all knowing nirvana state, they are complete male and female  in one soul, know all the knowledge of the universe. If that soul is then embodied in a female then the male aspect goes swimming off to be embodied in a man…and vice versa …with me so far?

It was this belief which founded two phrases ‘soulmates’ and ‘my other half’ it was this that caught my attention. This concept that a soul was searching for its male or female twin, to complete itself, to reunite, to be one again. It struck me at a core level, thats how I feel about Mister, I know people use the phrase soulmates very easily and loosely, but thats exactly how I feel about him.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again he is the man I should have waited to meet and certainly from Plato’s perspective thats bang on. Its like he KNOWS my soul, and he is the other half of me. Who knows maybe he does, maybe its all rubbish but even the possibility to feel so fundamentally connected feels pretty special to me.

On a positive note my brain box was completed and handed it, it looked pretty damn good to me and goodness knows the blood sweat and tears that went into it, I ALMOST dont care about the ‘grade’ I’m so proud of it, but lets hope that the tutors dont loose too many of my marbles eh? They are few and far between as it is!
